[Seminar in November] LGBTQ+ and Sports

[Seminar in November] LGBTQ+ and Sports

Chiba Rainbow Association holds events such as seminars and film screenings every year. This year, we will welcome Mr.Jun Mikami, Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Human Sciences, Osaka University, as our guest speaker. He will be speaking on the topic, “LGBTQ+ and Sports: Debates on Fairness and the Realities of Those Involved.”

With the Olympic and Paralympic Games being held this year, interest in sports is on the rise. In recent years, more athletes have come out as LGBTQ+, sparking discussions around gender and fairness in sports. In this seminar, we will take a historical look at sports and examine the concept of fairness. Additionally, we will shed light on the experiences and perspectives of LGBTQ+ individuals, which are often overlooked in these debates. This seminar is aimed not only at those directly involved in sports but also at anyone who engages with sports as a spectator or supporter. We hope to provide insights that everyone should know and consider.
